City data office says internal analytics saved millions and aided public‑safety work

Britta Anderchuk, the city’s chief data officer, told the Committee on Government Efficiency that the Office of Data Analytics and Business Intelligence (DBI) has generated an estimated $11 million in annual cost avoidance, delivered thousands of staff‑hours in savings and supported public‑safety recoveries. Britta Anderchuk, the city’s chief data officer and director of the Office of Data Analytics and Business Intelligence, told the committee the office was founded in 2020 to centralize analytics and produce measurable savings for city operations. "My name is Britta Anderchuk, and I have the privilege of serving as the city's chief data officer and director of the Office of Data Analytics and Business Intelligence," she said, and described DBI’s mission to "use data to improve lives." She said internal modeling shows about $11,000,000 a year in cost avoidance when DBI performs work that otherwise would be done by outside vendors.
