Parents press board for records and question curriculum and AI rules implementation

Two public commenters said district records requests remain unresolved and alleged materials ("ripple effects") linked children to Planned Parenthood and included sex-ed content without required legal process; they asked the board to produce documents and explain compliance with new statewide AI rules.

During public comment, Marshia Mezer told the Putnam County School Board that request 2677 had not been fully fulfilled and that staff had limited searches and closed files before completion. "Those materials referred children to Planned Parenthood and taught sex education content without the required legal process, also admitted to by your staff in writing," she said, and asked the board to direct staff to produce all requested records and explain how the district will implement recently approved statewide AI rules (parental notice and opt-in requirements and restrictions on AI tools used for social-emotional support).
