Purchasing staff recommended purchasing laptops (Toughbooks), keyboards and docking stations from Turnkey Mobile Incorporated for use by patrol and the investigations unit, using cooperative contracts and grant funding. Amy Smith, quartermaster for the sheriff's office (introduced during the agenda), provided cost estimates: "The 1st estimate is around 31,000, and the Blue Shield grant's gonna pay up to 29,000 on that 1," with the county responsible for about $2,200; a second estimate of roughly $40,700 would be covered by the law enforcement restitution fund.
