The local zoning board voted unanimously to grant a variance for a larger accessory building at 414 Elaine Drive. Gordon, a city staff member who read the case report, said the applicant, Ryan Grubs, requested permission to build a 1,152-square-foot "pool barn" for vehicle and material storage in an R3 residential district; city ordinance allows 900 square feet and a maximum 14-foot height. Grubs is the owner of the single-family residence at the address cited in the staff report.
