Austin Water outlines purple‑pipe growth: 70+ miles today and core projects under construction

Austin Water staff said the centralized reclaimed ('purple pipe') system totals about 70–75 miles today, sent roughly 1.8 billion gallons in 2025, charges roughly $3.35 per 1,000 gallons for many reclaimed customers, and is pursuing core CIP projects to expand service.

Kane Way and Margaret Lake presented the centralized reclaimed water program and near‑term infrastructure priorities. Way said the system now includes about 70–75 miles of pipeline and that, in 2025, the system delivered roughly 1.8 billion gallons for irrigation, cooling, industrial and indoor uses. He noted the system charges $3.35 per 1,000 gallons for many commercial reclaimed customers and described a set of "complete the core" CIP projects and another 10–15 projects in planning or design.
