Mayor Pro Tem Chito Vela opened a bilingual ceremony recognizing National Community Health Worker Awareness Week (Aug. 24–28), saying promotoras ‘‘make sure folks are aware of services, that they're informed, that they're organized, that they have access to resources.’’ He introduced the proclamation and turned the podium over to promotora leader Teresa Rivera.
