Commission approves transmission connection to bring Jupiter Power 100 MW battery onto Austin grid

David Tomchessen, Austin Energy vice president of engineering, said the commission approved a transmission line project to connect a 100-megawatt, four-hour Jupiter Power battery to a nearby substation to increase import capacity and bring the resource into Austin's grid.

David Tomchessen, Vice President of Engineering at Austin Energy, described item 10 as a transmission-line installation to connect a planned "100 megawatt 4 hour" battery — referenced on the record as the Jupiter Power project — to a local substation so the resource can be dispatched into Austin's grid and contribute import capacity. "This is, a transmission line to connect the, 100 megawatt hour or I think it's 4 hour, but 100 megawatt battery, to, the, most local substation," Tomchessen said.
