APD forensic lab says sexual-assault-kit DNA testing meets 90-day state requirement

Dr. Dana Katavy, director of Austin Forensic Science, told the commission the department tracks the percent of sexual-assault-kit DNA analyses completed and entered into CODIS within 90 days, the timeline set by state law. She said the lab has been meeting its target, with FY25 at 97% and FY26 quarters ranging from 96% to 100%.
