Austin proclaims Fall Prevention Awareness Day, urges senior home assessments

Council Member Crystal Lane and the Commission on Aging presented a proclamation designating 09/24/2026 as Fall Prevention Awareness Day in Austin and described local resources to reduce fall risk. "Falls cause 95 percent of hip hip fractures," Lane said while outlining the health burden for older adults and noting that many falls happen at home.
