County relies on state-offered cybersecurity tools, plans MFA rollout

Onondaga County IT told legislators it uses CrowdStrike, a SIEM and other monitoring tools; the county will add token-based multi-factor authentication through a New York State offering and continues to work with state services for cybersecurity support.

Kevin Sexton told the committee that the county has layered endpoint protection and monitoring tools to detect and respond to threats, and that New York State has provided services the county uses. “The first service they provided was CrowdStrike, which is our endpoint protection service… and that worked out great,” Sexton said, adding the county will move ahead with a token-based MFA solution offered by the state.
