The Houston Forensic Science Center board voted Sept. 11 to approve a contract (not to exceed $429,520) with Signature Science LLC to continue outsourcing forensic biology work, including processing certain assault‑kit evidence. Chairwoman Cohen said the contract continues a multi‑year outsourcing arrangement intended to keep kit turnaround times under the center's 90‑day goal.
