Council votes to move Northern Acres fire hydrant into town easement

Mar 26, 2026

After discussion about emergency access and property lines, the council voted to relocate a fire hydrant in Northern Acres into the town water‑utility easement to protect fire coverage for new homes and avoid placing the hydrant in a private front yard.

The full story

Council members and utilities staff discussed a fire hydrant that currently sits on or near private property in the Northern Acres subdivision and could leave several new homes without adequate fire protection if it were damaged. Members agreed the hydrant should be moved into the town water‑utility easement (northwest of the house) so it would not sit in a private yard or be the homeowner's maintenance responsibility.
