Council provides advice and consent to initial Cache County Fire Protection District trustee appointments after robust public comment

George Daines submitted 11 proposed trustee appointments to the new Cache County Fire Protection District; the council provided advice and consent by a 4–3 vote and the County Clerk performed a coin flip to stagger terms.

During the Aug. 25 meeting (included in the packet), the council held a public hearing on proposed appointments to the new Cache County Fire Protection District Board of Trustees. Executive N. George Daines proposed an initial slate of 11 trustees consisting largely of municipal mayors along with two county representatives and the executive. Dozens of members of the public and fire-service organizations provided comment during the hearing, urging the inclusion of firefighters and technical expertise on the board.
