Commissioners accept two Texas Indigent Defense Commission FY27 improvement grants
The court accepted two TIDC FY27 improvement grants: $2,668,579 for Tom Green and surrounding rural counties (with $242,598 in temporary assistance) and $2,096,512 to support the Abilene office (with $190,592 temporary assistance), and approved associated line-item transfers.

A court representative described two FY27 Improvement Grants from the Texas Indigent Defense Commission that will continue sustainability funding for regional public defender operations. "One of those grants funds Tom Green and the six surrounding rural counties," the Concho Valley Public Defender representative said, listing a total award of $2,668,579 and noting that $242,598 of that amount is for temporary assistance. The Abilene office award was reported as $2,096,512 with $190,592 temporary assistance.
