Chittenden’s hazard mitigation plan accepted by state; FEMA review next

Town staff said Chittenden’s local hazard mitigation plan has been received by Vermont Emergency Management and will be forwarded to FEMA; staff noted updated USGS/FEMA flood-risk maps so far do not place town structures in designated flood zones but future watershed meetings could have implications.

Staff member (S5) told the board the town’s local hazard mitigation plan has been received by the Vermont Emergency Management office and will next be sent to FEMA for federal review. S5 said the town’s recent USGS/FEMA mapping webinar focused on the White River Watershed and the Pittsfield side; the updated maps showed no structures in Chittenden’s designated flood areas.
