Board clears Lake Denham master plan to move forward with design and permitting

Trustees authorized the executive director to proceed with final design, permitting and phased construction of the Lake Denham master plan after a consultant update that highlighted muck removal, wetland creation, recreation access and potential mitigation credit opportunities.

Carl Salafria of Barge reported progress on the Lake Denham project, a multi‑year water quality and restoration effort the authority purchased to remove muck, restore wetlands and provide public access. Salafria said work by Southeast Soils to remove muck is underway, progress is faster than expected for several internal cells, and the contractor may complete removal within three to four years. He described conceptual public amenities—trails, canoe launches, observation decks—and noted the project’s potential eligibility for mitigation credits or WQEA opportunities.
