Newton County commissioners voted to re-enter a management-control agreement with the Texas Department of Public Safety and the FBI Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) to update county access and responsibilities. Staff said the county's agreement had not been updated since 2021 and the renewal is necessary to maintain criminal-history and driver-license checks for county law enforcement.
