Task force highlights Restart Alabama training and state workforce pipeline

Task force members described Restart Alabama as a training-and-support pipeline linking justice-involved people to maritime and other skilled jobs, with onsite support services and a direct placement strategy in shipyards and related industries.

Director Ward opened the meeting by spotlighting the Restart Alabama initiative and asked staff and partners to describe how the program will move participants into meaningful employment. Rebecca, who handles task-force reporting and program coordination, said the group will act as a subrecipient of restart grant funds. "We're we are ecstatic, for the opportunity to be a subrecipient of the restart grant," she said, adding that participants will receive training at no cost and on-site supports including residential, medical, substance-use and mental-health treatment.
