Russ Lane, DNR’s wildland fire management division manager, framed the wildfire presentation around a core challenge: government procurement and deployment often lag fast‑moving technology. He described DNR’s adoption of Planescape, an open‑science decision‑support tool built with partners to prioritize landscape treatments and integrate datasets from multiple owners. "Planescape...is an analytical tool that will allow us to share data across agencies...to promote that prioritization across all the practitioners out there," Lane said.
