County plans single-point courthouse screening to start Oct. 1

The sheriff said the courthouse will implement single-point entry weapons screening and lockers for visitors, with contracted security staff conducting screening; the public is advised to allow extra time for courthouse business beginning Oct. 1.

The sheriff briefed the committee on a court order and county preparations to implement single-point entry weapons screening for the courthouse. He said equipment—largely grant-funded—has been installed and that Security Services Northwest will staff screenings under contract. "Visitors coming into the courthouse during business hours, will be required to be screened," the sheriff said, and the county will provide lockers for people who bring weapons and wish to secure them while inside.
