Commissioners and fair-board members spent the longest segment of a regular meeting debating a draft plan that would change how the county’s fairgrounds and the adjacent Annex are managed and funded. Commissioners’ staff presented research from other Wyoming counties showing models that split building maintenance and event programming between county staff and volunteer boards; proponents said the county could use fuller-time staff to handle capital maintenance and allow the fair board to focus on producing the annual fair.
