Committee reclassifies several CE courses and adjusts credit hours

May 1, 2026

The committee adjusted credit-hour awards and reclassified several CE courses (e.g., moving one off-label medication course from glaucoma to ocular disease and reducing some credit increments to 0.5-hour units).

The full story

During review of items 5E–5J, committee members flagged inconsistencies in course applications and made several category and credit-hour adjustments. For example, the committee decided to award one presentation (5GI) 1.0 hour and a paired presentation (5GII) 0.5 hour rather than the 1.25/0.75 split proposed by the applicant because the board typically issues CE in half-hour increments. Members also recommended changing item 5HII from a glaucoma designation to ocular disease because the course focused on off-label uses of glaucoma medications rather than glaucoma management.
