During the public-comment period, Dale Wright of 126 South Street told the board he opposed "extreme changes" in the proposed noise ordinance and described noise reaching his home from a nearby factory. He said his personal decibel readings (which he acknowledged are not court-admissible) indicated levels reaching or exceeding 71 dB and argued the draft's new limits would make some houses less livable.
