Kent County commissioners held a public hearing on proposed updates to the county's purchasing chapter that county staff said are designed "to modernize and update our purchasing legislation." County Attorney Robert Mauer opened the hearing and Director Joanne McNamara walked commissioners through the changes, which include raising department director signature authority to $25,000, expanding special signatory authority for the public-works director and sheriff to $50,000, and increasing the county-administrator limit to $100,000 while permitting limited delegation up to $50,000.
