Commission backs code language cleanup; commissioners split over data-center language and docket labeling

The commission recommended approval of C261 code language changes (including reinstated data-center language reflecting a county moratorium) but several commissioners said the package contained substantive new items that should not be labeled as routine cleanup. Commissioners also flagged the party-of-record addition for BOCC review.

The Planning Commission voted to recommend the code language cleanup package C261, which includes several miscellaneous corrections and a set of provisions intended to limit or define data centers consistent with a county-commissioner moratorium. Staff said the data-center language "is essentially pretty much putting that moratorium language into code" and noted some of the language was reinstated after the county's code rewrite removed it in 2025.
