Transition committee votes to exclude insurance coverage for council members from draft code

Committee members discussed optional language in the draft administrative code that would permit council members (and their dependents) to be included in township-paid group insurance plans. Several members warned that because the township self-insures, adding council members could raise the township’s insurance experience and produce higher costs for taxpayers; one member said they would be "adamantly opposed to offering any insurance to any council members because that could really impact what it would cost the taxpayers."
