Lawrence County Commissioners on Sept. 22 adopted a proclamation designating Oct. 23–31, 2026, as Red Ribbon Week and Oct. 1–31, 2026, as Substance Misuse Prevention Month, committing county resources to local prevention education. Commissioner Deanna Holliday read the proclamation and said the county supports youth‑led prevention efforts and will partner with community organizations to promote awareness.
