First Assistant District Attorney Brienne Smith introduced two new hires at the Sept. 9 committee meeting: a financial‑crimes assistant identified as Gregory and an entry‑level assistant identified as Justin. Smith said both positions had been vacant (one since December 2025) and that filling them will help the office manage a rising number of financial investigations.
