Board approves short-term behind-the-wheel contract while state testing rules change

The board approved personnel items that included a contract for behind-the-wheel driver's-education services with a retired instructor who is grandfathered to provide student testing. District staff explained that the classroom portion will continue to be taught by a certified teacher, but the behind-the-wheel portion is being contracted because the teacher does not hold the same behind-the-wheel testing qualifications.
