Commission approves Cape Group rezoning with cemetery buffer, traffic conditions

The Bryan County Board of Commissioners approved a second reading and conditions for a rezoning request by Cape Group LLC to rezone approximately 38.86 acres from A5 (agricultural) to B2 (general commercial) at the Belfast River Road / Highway 144 roundabout. The decision followed a night of technical presentations, a lengthy applicant response and an extensive public‑comment period in which residents, cemetery caretakers and neighbors urged denial.
