Assistant Superintendent for Business and Operations Jeremy Dardone walked the board through how building aid units (BAUs) and maximum cost allowances drive project scope and aid eligibility under New York State procedures. He explained BAUs depend on room types, grade spans and regional cost indices; those BAUs set the district's maximum cost allowance, which in turn determines what portion of a capital project is eligible for state aid.
