Frankton leaders debate UDO changes after shipping container permit draws objections

Apr 22, 2026

Council members and residents clashed over whether a shipping container used for storage complies with Frankton evelopment rules; one council member proposed rescinding the permit or requiring the container be moved to the rear of the property, while the property owner asked for more time to comply.

The full story

Council discussion on March 2 focused on whether a large storage container on a private lot complies with the town evelopment rules. A council member (voice 2) said the Unified Development Ordinance requires accessory storage units to be placed behind residences and urged the board to take a stricter stance: "Resend a permit and tell them they have to move it because it is not behind their home, as the UDO says," the member said. The motion was seconded and discussed but the transcript does not record a formal roll-call tally for a final rescission in that moment.
