Jenkins County board abandons road through River Oaks Subdivision
The Jenkins County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously June 9 to abandon the roadway through River Oaks Subdivision (Old Eighty Road) after county counsel said the road had been gifted to the county and no objections were filed in the Millen News.

The Jenkins County Board of Commissioners voted 4-0 on June 9 to abandon the road through River Oaks Subdivision on Old Eighty Road. County Attorney Cindy Ballew told the board the county had been gifted the road, it had not been maintained by the county, and a public notice ran in the Millen News with no objections, after which Commissioner Mike Chance moved to abandon the road and Commissioner Tracie Coney seconded; the motion passed with four votes in favor.
