Zapata County approves $270,892 camera system, schedules jail HVAC replacements
The commissioners approved replacement of rooftop HVAC units at county and regional jails and selected a Sdeptec-compatible camera system for the regional jail at $270,892.50 to ensure compatibility with recently installed control equipment.

The court approved replacement and repairs to heating, ventilation and air-conditioning units at the county and regional jails after staff described repeated problems and a recent Level 1 complaint from the Commission on Jail Standards. Sheriff staff reported two replacement quotes (roughly $18,850 and $13,800) and said one unit will be covered by commissary funds. The court approved the request by voice vote.
