Commission approves purchase order to replace county IT UPS using insurance proceeds
IT staff said a UPS failure during a power shutdown revealed end-of-life battery-backup equipment; commissioners approved PO #8039 to replace the unit using insurance funds and directed contractor validation and testing.

Joseph Tongwe of the county IT department requested approval to replace the main UPS unit in the data center after it failed during an April power shutdown. He said the older UPS did not provide sustained power during the event and likely suffered damage from last year's flood; testing information was not recoverable from the unit.
