Chittenden’s emergency manager said updated USGS/FEMA flood-risk maps will be presented Jan. 13, 2026; the board approved extending the Rutland Regional Planning Commission contract to June 30, 2026 to accommodate FEMA timing.

Jan Sotirakis told the board the US Geological Survey, in partnership with FEMA, will present updated flood-risk mapping for Chittenden on Jan. 13, 2026, and said the town’s original contract with the Rutland Regional Planning Commission was scheduled to end Jan. 30, 2026 but will not be approved by FEMA by that date. "The original contract with the Rutland Regional Planning Commission ends on January 30, 2026, but Maggie O’Brien has requested an extension until June 30, 2026," Sotirakis said.
