The Watervliet Commission voted on May 13 to approve the event application for the Watervliet Independence Day Celebration, scheduled July 4–6, 2025. Commissioner Rebeca Oliphant moved to approve the application and Commissioner Michael Bumstead supported the motion; the roll-call vote recorded ayes from Commissioners Brinker, Bumstead, Oliphant, Whitney and Mayor Pro‑Tem Duane Cobb and listed Mayor Deah Muth and Commissioner Zach Smith as absent.
