Board approves sheriff office pay-class adjustments; commissioners set July 1 effective date

After a presentation showing Fremont County sheriff pay lagged peers, commissioners approved SOC/classification changes that raise multiple sheriff positions; staff estimated the adjustments will add about $129,000 in salary costs (roughly $150,000 with benefits).

Sheriff Hutcherson and department staff presented a staffing and compensation analysis that compared local pay to other Wyoming agencies and recommended step and SOC adjustments to move many roles closer to market percentiles. The package for sworn and civilian positions would increase annual payroll by the amounts shown and the sheriff’s office asked the board to implement changes effective July 1.
