Utica officials order tests and temporary shoring plan for aging Station 4

Deputy Chief Truzki said Atlantic Testing Laboratories will take core samples this week to test the station floor; engineers will design a shoring plan and officials estimate 3–6 months to stabilize the building and return apparatus to service.

Deputy Chief Truzki told the Committee of the Whole that Atlantic Testing Laboratories will take core samples and chloride tests to measure the compressive strength of Station 4’s concrete, then forward results to the structural engineer to develop a shoring plan. "They're going to be the testing agency that's going to do the core samples to determine the compressive strength of the concrete and also do some chloride testing," Truzki said.
