Board approves full Rustin Stadium lighting replacement after pole survey; additional $231,784 requested

Sep 22, 2026

After a pole survey recommended full replacement, the district approved adding about $231,784 to the Rustin Stadium lighting project so poles, bases, fixtures and controls can be replaced together; staff cited LED energy and maintenance savings and scheduled construction after the fall season.

Staff presented findings from a structural survey of existing stadium poles and recommended replacing poles, bases and fixtures rather than reusing older infrastructure. The original project budget anticipated replacing poles; the district previously planned a lower-cost retrofit but the survey results showed replacement was prudent. Staff requested an additional $231,784 to fund full replacement and integration of LED fixtures, control systems and concrete bases.
