Parks board opens five-year master plan process, sets public comment deadlines

The Michigan City Parks and Recreation Board presented a draft five-year master plan and opened a public input session; the draft is due to the DNR Nov. 15, DNR comments are expected by late January and the final plan is due April 15. The department reported 314 public surveys to date and invited further input through Oct. 16.

The Michigan City Parks and Recreation Board on Sept. 16 launched the public input phase for its five-year master plan, outlining a schedule and scope for the draft and final documents. The presenter said the draft is due to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources on Nov. 15, with expected DNR comments by the end of January and a final plan to be submitted on April 15 addressing those comments. "So our draft plan is due to the DNR on November 15," the presenter said.
