Engineer Nick Bergman told the board that suppliers the county works with are moving away from riveted metal culverts to spiral‑formed culverts. Bergman said spiral culverts may not be as strong as riveted culverts and that spiral sections can be more difficult to cut, and noted at least one supplier used by the county is ceasing culvert sales.
