Pullman's fire leadership asked the council to adopt a multi‑year increase in ambulance fees to offset rising costs and a long interval since the last rate change in 2018. The fire chief said the proposal calls for a 10% increase each year for the next three years beginning Jan. 1, 2027, then indexing future increases to the Consumer Price Index for Washington (CPIW) with a cap of 10%. "This service is the most requested service within my department... we have to have the supplies and equipment available for our staff to be able to go out and help our citizens in their time of need," the chief said.
