Commission conditionally approves 240-room hotel; developer aims to build workforce housing
The Planning Commission approved a 240-room hotel site plan (Henry Shaw Hotel) with conditions including submission of retaining-wall details, a boundary-line adjustment, and either payment of a workforce-housing fee-in-lieu or construction of affordable units; the developer said the team is pursuing 20–30+ workforce units rather than paying the fee.

The commission unanimously approved the Henry Shaw Hotel site plan (Planning Resolution 12-2026) for a 240-room hotel at 836 and 840 South Main Street, subject to standard engineering and planning conditions and a requirement to provide workforce housing or pay the fee-in-lieu before building permits are issued.
