Select Board approves switch to internet-based phone system to cut costs

The Select Board approved replacing legacy landlines with a voice-over-IP system after staff presented monthly cost savings and a note that the phones would be dependent on internet service. The board voted unanimously to accept the proposal and signed the agreement.

Town Administrator Jennifer Roux presented voice-over-IP telephone proposals and detailed monthly cost reductions for town facilities: the Transfer Station would drop from about $140 to $24.97, the Fire Department from roughly $330 to $65, and Town Hall from about $500 to approximately $110 per month (including lines and fax). Roux noted a one-time $225 fee for fax lines at Town Hall and the Fire Station.
