A Comal County Sheriff's Office official told commissioners that updated quotes for patrol SUVs and upfitting were substantially lower than earlier budget estimates. The official said the vehicles quoted at $52,975 with upfitting of $32,944.75 would total $85,919.75 per vehicle, compared with prior estimates exceeding $100,000 when upfitting was higher. Based on the lower pricing, the office recommended authorizing additional vehicle purchases to realize near‑term savings.
