The Las Animas County Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution No. 25-025 on June 2, 2025, declaring the county "NOT a sanctuary county" and stating it will not open shelters or provide services other than emergency services to undocumented persons who may arrive in unincorporated Las Animas County. Administrator Phil Dorenkamp read the resolution to the board during the special meeting.
