The highway superintendent (Theresa, speaker 6) requested authorization to obtain pricing and proceed toward replacing two pickup trucks used for emergency response (truck #3: 2011 Chevy 2500 and truck #1: 2016 Chevy 3500). Theresa said both vehicles perform critical heavy-duty tasks and are not good candidates for EV alternatives at present because plowing, payload and cold weather degrade EV range during emergency response. "Everything that you do with a pickup truck will reduce the range," she said, explaining operational constraints.
