The Lapel Town Council voted Aug. 4 to pass Resolution 2026-16, making the town manager's separation effective immediately under a contract provision the council discussed. The chair told the council the manager had submitted a 30-day resignation effective July 16 but had not accepted or signed the proposed separation agreement. A staff member advising on contract language said the council could invoke section 9.3 to terminate the resignation early; a council member moved to pass the resolution effective immediately and the motion carried unanimously.
