Diane Krause, board chair for the Vernon County Historical Society, outlined the museum’s history, its decades‑long relationship with the county and how county support has funded paid staff and daily operations. She said the society’s 2025 general fund income was about $92,821 and that county payments once provided a larger share of operating support; “in 2026 this year, we have been reduced to 37,500,” she said, and museum leaders described the resulting pressure on staffing and programming.
